LET’S START

Particle flow within 3DS Max is a great way to simulate special effects in our scenes. Effects such as soft fluffy carpets can be tricky as well as time consuming to achieve without the flexibility and control that particle flow offers.

CONCEPTS:

  • Use organic topology for improved randomization of particle strand orientation
  • Keep the poly count for individual carpet strands as low as possible
  • Control the upper limit for rendered particles within System Management
  • Use a higher density for generated particles on the edges of the carpet using grayscale mapping
